About this place

Yeonnam-dong is a residential and commercial neighborhood in Mapo-gu, adjacent to Hongik University Station, that became known after the Gyeongui Line Forest Park (nicknamed Yeontral Park) opened on a former rail corridor in 2016. The neighborhood's winding alleyways are packed with independent cafes, international restaurants, and small boutique shops, set among residential lanes rather than the commercial blocks of nearby Hongdae. Visitors browse small handicraft shops, picnic along the linear park, or sit in a cafe.

Address

Hours
Varies by shop
These are ungated residential back streets, so the neighbourhood itself can be walked at any hour, and the Korea Tourism Organization lists Yeonnam-dong as open 24 hours. Opening times and rest days are set by each business; the alleys thick with cafes and restaurants generally open late in the morning and run into the night. On the adjoining Yeonnam-dong stretch of Gyeongui Line Forest Park, busking is permitted only between 11:00 and 20:00 daily, and only along the 200m or so from Exit 3 of Hongik University Station to the Yeonnam police box.
