About this place

Gwangjang Market, established in 1905, was Korea's first permanent market. The market's core trades in textiles, hanbok fabric, and bedding, with thousands of stalls also carrying imported goods and daily necessities. At the food street that converges at the East, South Gate 1, and North Gate 2 entrances, vendors fry crispy bindaetteok (mung bean pancakes), roll tiny "mayak" kimbap, and serve raw yukhoe (beef tartare) at communal tables. Stalls and small restaurants pack its narrow, busy alleys.
