About this place

Dongmyo Flea Market grew up along the walls of Dongmyo, the Joseon-era shrine to the general Guan Yu, and is a secondhand market. It is about a four-minute walk from Exit 3 of Dongmyo Station on Lines 1 and 6. Clothing and shoes, watches, electronics, old books and film posters all turn up jumbled together, and the effect has been described as walking into a living museum. Shops around the edges lay their stock out on racks while the stalls pile theirs on the ground to be dug through, so bargain hunters and browsers end up working the market in quite different ways.

Good to know

Address
243 Nangye-ro (and surrounding area), Jongno-gu, Seoul
Hours
Varies by shop
The Korea Tourism Organization gives 10:00-18:00 for the market as a whole, though individual stalls and shops open and close at their own times. There is no set closing day. The pickings are best early, so going in the morning is the way to find the good things; later in the day you are more likely to end up buying from the surrounding shops, which lay their goods out tidily and charge a little more. It trades every day rather than on particular market days.
