About this place

Seonyudo Park is a small Han River island park born from the conversion of a water purification plant that supplied southwestern Seoul from 1978 to 2000 into an ecological green space. Retaining the concrete skeleton of the original filtration infrastructure, the site was reinterpreted as an aquatic plant garden, a garden of green pillars, and exhibition halls — creating a distinctive architectural sensibility where industrial heritage and nature coexist. Crossing the Seonyugyo footbridge onto the island reveals sweeping views of the Han River and city skyline, and the park is widely recognized as a pioneering model of adaptive reuse.
