About this place

Changgyeonggung Palace traces its origins to Suganggung, built by King Sejong for his retiring father King Taejong, and was expanded and renamed during the reign of King Seongjong. As a palace that served as living quarters for queens and royal consorts, it is home to Myeongjeong Hall (National Treasure), the oldest surviving throne hall among Joseon's royal palaces. Its lush forest and Chundangji Pond make it a historical walk in the heart of the city.
