About this place

Changsin-dong Sewing Street grew as the primary garment production hub behind Dongdaemun's clothing markets in the 1970s and 80s, and still houses around 1,000 small-scale sewing factories today. Steep hillside alleys fill with the sound of sewing machines and the smell of fabric, and the entire neighborhood has been designated a living "Sewing Street Museum." Designated as Seoul's first urban regeneration pilot project in 2014, the area now features community workshops and a sewing history museum, while rooftop cafes at the top of the hill offer panoramic views of central Seoul. The neighborhood also gained wider recognition as a filming location for the Oscar-winning film Parasite.
